The Serial Numbers Settings define how serial numbers are managed when processing inventory transactions.
1. Enabling "Products by Serial"
✅ If "Products by Serial" is enabled:
- The Add/Edit Inventory Receiving Voucher screen will display a popup to enter the serial number.
- The Add/Edit Inventory Delivery Voucher screen will display a popup to select the serial number.
- The Add/Edit Loss & Adjustment screen will display a popup to enter the serial number.
2. Disabling "Products by Serial"
❌ If "Products by Serial" is disabled:
- When importing inventory, the system does not display a popup to enter the serial number.
- When exporting inventory, the system automatically assigns a serial number, which cannot be modified.
- When adjusting inventory, the system does not prompt for a serial number.
3. Serial Number as a Mandatory Field
✅ If enabled:
- Users must enter a serial number when creating an Inventory Receiving Voucher.
❌ If disabled:
- Serial number entry is optional when receiving inventory.
Final Notes
- Enabling serial number tracking enhances traceability and accountability for inventory.
- Disabling serial number tracking simplifies inventory transactions but may reduce tracking accuracy.
- Mandatory serial numbers ensure compliance with inventory control policies.
