Units Setting in Inventory Management Module

The Units Setting allows organizations to define measurement units for inventory items. This data is used in the Unit dropdown on the Add/Edit Item page.


1. Adding a New Unit

To add a new unit of measurement to your organization:

Step 1: Access Unit Settings

  1. Navigate to Settings under the Inventory Module from the left sidebar.
  2. Select Units from the menu.
  3. Click the Add Unit button.

Step 2: Enter Unit Details

On the Add Unit page, fill in the following details:

  1. Unit Code – Enter a unique identifier for the unit.
  2. Unit Name – Specify the name of the unit.
  3. Unit Symbol – Enter the standard symbol for the unit (e.g., kg, L, m²).
  4. Order – The lower the order number, the higher the unit appears in the Unit dropdown.
  5. Display Option
    • Checked → The unit is visible in the Unit dropdown (Items Menu → Add/Edit Item form).
    • Unchecked → The unit is hidden and will not be available for selection.
  6. Note – Enter any additional details related to this unit.

Step 3: Save the Unit

  • Click the Save button to confirm and create the unit.

2. Editing a Unit

To modify an existing unit of measurement:

Step 1: Access the Units Menu

  1. Navigate to Settings under the Inventory Module from the left sidebar.
  2. Select Units from the menu.

Step 2: Edit the Unit

  1. Hover over the unit to be modified and click Edit.
  2. Make the necessary changes.
  3. Click Save to apply the updates.

3. Deleting a Unit

If a unit is no longer in use, you can delete it.

Step 1: Access the Units Menu

  1. Navigate to Settings under the Inventory Module from the left sidebar.
  2. Select Units from the menu.

Step 2: Delete the Unit

  1. Hover over the unit to be deleted and click Delete.
  2. Confirm the deletion in the pop-up message.
  3. The unit will be permanently removed.
