Warehouse custom fields in Inventory Management module

The Warehouse Custom Fields feature allows organizations to define additional attributes for warehouse records. These custom fields enhance warehouse management by enabling more detailed data entry and categorization.


1. Adding a New Custom Field

To add a new custom field to your organization:

Step 1: Access Custom Fields Settings

  1. Navigate to Setups from the left sidebar.
  2. Select Custom Fields from the menu.
  3. Click the New Custom Field button.

Step 2: Enter Custom Field Details

On the Add New Custom Field page, fill in the following details:

  1. Belongs To – Select Warehouse as the assigned entity.
  2. Field Name – Enter a unique name for the custom field.
  3. Type – Choose the data type for the field (e.g., text, number, dropdown).
  4. Default Value – Specify a default value if applicable.
  5. Order – Define the display order of this custom field.

Step 3: Save the Custom Field

  • Click the Save button to confirm and create the new custom field.

2. Assigning Custom Fields to Warehouses

To assign a custom field to a warehouse:

Step 1: Access Warehouse Custom Field Settings

  1. Navigate to Settings under the Inventory Module from the left sidebar.

Step 2: Assign the Custom Field

On the Add Custom Fields for Warehouse page, fill in the following details:

  1. Select Custom Field – Choose a previously created custom field.
  2. Select Warehouse Name – Assign the custom field to a specific warehouse.

Step 3: Save the Warehouse Custom Field

  • Click the Save button to apply the assignment.

3. Editing a Warehouse Custom Field

To modify an existing warehouse custom field:

Step 1: Access the Warehouse Custom Fields Menu

  1. Navigate to Settings under the Inventory Module from the left sidebar.
  2. Select Warehouse Custom Fields from the menu.

Step 2: Edit the Custom Field

  1. Locate the warehouse custom field to be modified.
  2. Click Edit and make the necessary changes.

Step 3: Save the Changes

  • Click the Save button to update the field.

4. Deleting a Warehouse Custom Field

If a warehouse custom field is no longer required, you can delete it.

Step 1: Access the Warehouse Custom Fields Menu

  1. Navigate to Settings under the Inventory Module from the left sidebar.
  2. Select Warehouse Custom Fields from the menu.

Step 2: Delete the Custom Field

  1. Locate the warehouse custom field to be deleted.
  2. Click Delete.
  3. Confirm the deletion in the pop-up message.

Final Notes

  • Warehouse custom fields allow for better data management and categorization of warehouse records.
  • Use the display order wisely to ensure a logical arrangement of fields.
  • Deleted custom fields cannot be recovered, so ensure they are no longer needed before deletion.
